Description

The church of Saint Agostino (fourteenth century) strikes the visitor because of the contrast between its facade, clear expression of gothic style with the rich ogival portal and the lunette with Our Lady and Saints, and the interior enhancing the Baroque features of the seventeenth century, golden age of the town of Norcia.

The magnificent choir in carved walnut, decorated with inserts of paintings and  the precious organ recently attributed to the famous Umbrian master Luca Neri date back to the seventeenth century. Among the frescoes, worthy of special attention are: on the right wall, Our Lady with Child from the fourteenth century, belonging to the painting culture of Spoletan Valley; Our Lady with Saint Anthony and Saint Claude by Giovanni di Battista from Norcia (1497); Our Lady with Saint Catherine, Saint Anthony and Saint Amico by Gaspare Angelucci (1541); Crucifixion of Saint Peter, a badly damaged painting attributed to Vincenzo Manenti.
